UI not responding to motion

Dear Wikitude,

We've recently purchased a license key and been testing our application with Wikitude API before we release it to the end user. We've encountered a bug with the following characteristics: Our environment loads in the Wikitude UI, the items are loaded and presented on screen. However, when we move the device around (Android), the items stay idle in one place as if the screen did not update to represent the motion change. In other words, the view is fixed on the items in the specific location and motion changes (rotating 360) do not affect the UI. Your feedback and help on the matter will be much appreciated.

Hello Arik,
Could you please provide further details on the issue:
  • Which version of the SDK are you using?
  • Are you using the JS API?
  • Are you using any of our Extensions (Titanium, Cordova, Xamarin, Unity)? If yes, which version are you using?
  • What device does this happen with (os Version and model)?

Could you also please send a video demonstrating your issue?

- We're using Wikitude SDK 5.3.1

- Yes, we are using the JS API

- No, none of the extensions (Cordova etc...) is used

- To my knowledge it happened to Galaxy Edge S7 SM-G935F (7.0)

- Unfortunately, no video available (I don't have the device). But the problem is simple: the view is fixed

once the items (images) are loaded... movement of the device around does not change the view contents

the camera though does work and show the environment behind the images correctly (not a camera freeze issue).

Hello Arik,

I believe that what you describe is expected behaviour. The augmented objects are supposed to stay in the location you position them. Are you working with GeoLocation services? If there would be any way that you send me a video I could easily identify your issue.

Hi Eva,

Yes, indeed we are inherently using the GeoLocation services. To clarify, the objects stay at their location (lat+lon) but should relatively change in the place they appear on the screen as the device moves about. In this case, when we move the device around their location on the screen does not change. I will definitely try to provide you with a video. I think that probably the motion sensor service of the Android os of the device is not responding and that is what causes that problem. The problem happens sporadically, and not that often. I also think that it is also related to the virtual memory available to the app possibly an oom native error prevents from the correct activation of the Wikitude API.
