Instant Tracker does not exist bug in Unity using Wikitude 8.1 and 8.2

Wikitude 8.1 and 8.2 InstantTracker component does not exist bug

(This bug does not exist in the Wikitude 8.0 SDK)

Behaviour:

The grid renderer will render at an odd location (relative to the camera) or not at all.

The tracking will not work.

These two problems do not go away until you reload the scene (maybe; not guaranteed).

Steps to reproduce:

(using the Wikitude 8.1 or 8.2 Scene Picking sample)

Load the app.

From the main menu, select Scene Picking.

After the scene loads, go back to the main menu.

Rinse, repeat until this bug occurs (typically under 5 tries to trigger the bug).

Debugging:

The provided Android Studio logs indicate the InstantTracker script component does not exist.

This occurs in my application and the 8.1/8.2 sample application.

Test Devices:

S7 and Note4

Clarification: This appears to only happen on Android. I was only able to test this bug on one, non-ARKit capable iOS phone and I was not able to reproduce the bug on it. Correction: I also tested the bug on a Note5, so add it to the list of test devices.

Hi,

Thank you very much for reporting this issue and attaching the logs. This is very helpful.

We'll have a look and let you know as soon as we have a solution.

Best regards,

Alexandru

Hi,

The issue was fixed internally and it will be included in the next update of the SDK. It only happens if SMART is enabled on the InstantTracker. If it is disabled, this bug shouldn't happen in the current version either.

Thank you for helping us find the issue.

Best regards,

Alexandru
