FBX Import - Mesh Deformation


we're having a problem when trying to import our fbx file into the Wikitude3DEncoder.

The mesh in the fbx file looks fine in Maya 2017 (exported as a fbx from maya and  then reimported - see screenshot), when the fbx is imported into the Wikitude3DEncoder however the mesh gets deformed around the eyes of the character. 

Any ideas what could cause this problem?

I already tried out all the different backface culling modes but that doesn't seem to change anything :/

If the mesh is a skin which is animated by a skeleton you can try to add more bones and reduce the influence of the last bone. 

We smoothed the skin weights of the mesh which helped a little bit.
