POI drifting issues

POI drifting issues

Hi Imogen,
so far this is not part of the iOS release scope as it would decrease the quality on iOS.

Best regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Are we likely to find any improvement on this behaviour in v5?

Hi Imogen,
You can't disable the gyro on iOS because the Wikitude iOS SDK relies on it's data. Sorry :(.

Best regards

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your response. I've worked on the app that Ben is talking about. If the gyro isn't necessary for positioning the POIs in Android, is it possible to create an app that doesn't rely on it in iOS to prevent this drifting behaviour? The POIs in Android seem to be positioned pretty well.

Hi Ben,
What you describe is expected behaviour. The gyro is constantly adjusting it's output values and thats the reason why sometimes the movement is more siginifanct to see then other times. Please try your app outside of building and massive metal constructions. The sourrounding heavily influences the device sensor values.

Unfortunately there is no way for you to alter this behaviour. It does not appear on Android because this platform does not use the gyro at all.

Best regards

Andreas

We're currently developing an iOS app using the latest Wikitude 4.0.2 SDK, which is a port of an existing Android app. POIs are loaded correctly, however when keeping the device perfectly still, we can see that points slowly drift to the left or right. Testing this on two different iPhone 6 devices, they both drifted to the right. Sometimes the movement is more erratic and points will jump around quite a bit.

After downloading the Wikitude app from the App Store, we can see the same issue on several devices, with the points drifting to the left on an iPhone 6, and an iPhone 4S running iOS 7.

Is this a known issue? If so are there any workarounds to fix it or any plans to improve it in the SDK itself?

We do not have any similar issues with the Android app; hopefully this can be fixed and is not simply a case of inaccurate hardware.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
